Bike Down Haleakala

One of Maui’s most incredible experience is a bike ride down Haleakala volcano.

Rated as one of the top activities on Maui, biking down Haleakala volcano can be one of the most spectacular experiences you will ever do.  Starting well before sunrise, you will see the sun come up at an incredible altitude.

There’s a variety of downhill bike tours available, and all the bike tour companies are reputable with good safety records.

Bike Down Haleakala Suggestion:

I recommend a tour that takes you to the top of Haleakala for a sunrise experience.  This will be one of the most thrilling sites you will ever experience.  Then the tour van will take you downhill several miles to the edge of Haleakala National Park at 6,500 feet, where you will begin your 23-25 mile bike tour.

Haleakala Bike Company.  This is one of the most popular activities on Maui and this reputable company is one of the largest bike companies coming down Haleakala.  Haleakala Bike Company offers several different tours to fit a wide variety of biking styles.  Tripadvisor will let you see what others think of Haleakala Bike Company.  (808) 575-9575.

Biking down Haleakala volcano is a top “must-do” activity.  Yes, you’ll probably have to get up really early on your vacation.   But the experience will be one you’ll never forget.

Things To Do On Maui!

Visit Honolua Bay when you’re on the west side of Maui, and maybe grab a pizza at Dollie’s.  There plenty of activities on Maui and also some of the best burger places are in Lahaina Town.  Don’t forget to make a trip to Haleakala Crater and snorkel at Black Rock or Airport Beach.

Looking for a great breakfast?  Try The Gazebo in Napili.  Do some shopping at Lahaina Cannery Mall, try some pizza in Lahaina Town at Prison Street Pizza, or go upcountry and have a great steak at Makawao Steakhouse.

Beaches.  Maui has some of the best beaches in the world.  Napili Bay and Kapalua Bay on the west side of the island are popular snorkel locations, and everyone loves Baby Beach in Lahaina.  Honolua Bay is also awesome for snorkeling, and Slaughterhouse Beach nearby is a tourist favorite.  Don’t forget to try D.T. Fleming Beach Park.

Big Beach is a favorite on the southwest side of Maui, along with Ulua Beach, Wailea Beach and Polo Beach.

In Paia, there’s Baldwin Beach that is popular and Ho’okipa Beach is just past Paia.  Just before Hana is the famous Black Sand Beach.

La Perouse Bay is an incredible place to snorkel, swim and hike, and Po’olenalena Beach is a little hide-away beach in the Makena State Park area of southwest Maui.

Eating & Drinking.  Oh, yea.  You’ve also got to eat and drink while visiting Maui.  Well, for breakfast The Gazebo in Napili is a “must-do tradition,” along with the Kihei Café.  For pizza, try Prison Street Pizza in Lahaina or Dollie’s Pub & Café in Napili.

There’s a lot of good burger places in Lahaina, along With Honu Seafood and Pizza and Lulu’s Lahaina Surf Club.

In the upcountry town of Makawao are two good places to eat – Casanova Italian Restaurant and  Makawao Steak House.   Stop at this “Hawaiian cowboy” town on your way down from a sunrise visit at Haleakala Crater.
