Napili Bay on West Maui is a nice, family beach.
Napili Bay is a favorite snorkel and swimming beach for families with children of all ages. The water is especially calm in the morning hours, but it does tend to get a bit roughter in the afternoon. After 2 p.m., the waves can get quite large at Napili Bay.
Napili Bay Is A Top Snorkel Spot! Napili Bay is one of the best snorkel locations on Maui. The beach is protected by several reef systems and is a natural spot for Green Sea Turtles (Honu in Hawaiian). The snorkeling is very good in the morning hours, and entering the beach is easy with a slight slope to the entrance to the water.
Napili Bay is anchored by the Napili Kai resort to the north, and the Napili Shores resort to the south. Maui’s famous Gazebo Restaurant is also located at the edge of the south part of the bay withint the Napili Shore complex.
Directions To Napili Beach. Take Hwy. 30 to the west side of Maui, and turn south to Lower Honoapiilani Road. Go through the communities of Honokowai and Kahana, and you’ll see the Napili Shores resort. Park along the roadway.
Napili Beach Suggestions.
- Go early in the morning. The water is very calm in the early hours.
- Take drinks and snacks, as there’s not a convenience store nearby.
- Have breakfast at The Gazebo and then head over for a morning or snorkeling and swimming at Napili Bay.
- Enjoy a morning of swimming and snorkeling at Napili Bay, and then have lunch at The Gazebo. The restaurants closes at 2 p.m. so get there before it closes.
- Park along Lower Honoapiilani Road, as the resorts have limited, private parking.
